In Hawaiian, Lomi Lomi means something like to knead, to press, to rub. The massage comes from the Huna tradition, in which health is understood as flowing energy. Blockages show themselves as tension; the massage is meant to release them and bring body, mind and soul back into harmony. Lomi Lomi was originally practised in temples, accompanied by chants and prayers.
What makes Lomi Lomi different
The most striking difference from other massages: your masseuse works not only with her hands but with her entire forearms, right up to the elbows. The movements are long, flowing and gently rocking, often sweeping across the whole body, from the neck to the heels in a single stroke. A great deal of warm oil is used. Lomi Lomi is sometimes described as waves rolling over the body.
The treatment begins on the back, which in the Hawaiian view is the place of the past, and then turns to the front, where the stomach is seen as the seat of the emotions. The intensity varies: soft and swaying, then firmer again to release deep tension.
Lomi Lomi Nui and Lomi Lomi Sens
At Secret Deluxe the massage comes in two versions. Lomi Lomi Nui is the classic wellness version without an erotic element, 60 minutes for CHF 130. Lomi Lomi Sens is the sensual extension: the same technique, the same waves, but the intimate zones are included, 60 minutes for CHF 220. We leave out the chants and prayers; Hawaiian music plays on request.
